Miss Southern Plains, Diane Westhoven was crowned Miss Alabama USA 2024 during the state final on Saturday, June 1 atAuburn University's Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center. The 21-year-old student from Birmingham will now prepare to represent Alabama at Miss USA 2024 this summer in Hollywood, California. She succeeds Sophie Burzynski, last year's winner and Miss USA 2023 Top 20 semifinalist. Asian-American Bailey Anne Kennedy was crowned Miss Maryland USA 2024 on Saturday, June 1 atBethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. The 31-year-old military wife,an NCAA D1 Dance Team Captain, and a former NFL Cheerleader Trainee from Montgomery County bested over 90 other contestants to win the state title. She became the oldest and the first transgender and married woman to be crowned Miss Maryland USA since the Miss Universe Organization recently changed its rules regarding age limits and marital status. Bailey advocates for "Beauty Without an Expiration Date" to encourage everyone to embrace opportunities regardless of age restrictions and believe in one's own self-worth despite any perceived limitations in life. The 23-year-old model and mental health advocate from Atmore, Alabama is now expected to represent her home state at the National American Miss 2024 competition later this year. "This is a dream that has been 8 years in the making for me," said the new National American Miss Alabama who first joined the state pageant when she was 15 years old. Phiranya Thipphomvong was crowned Miss Universe Laos 2024 in a national competition held on Saturday, June 8 at the Saint Phila Convention Hall in Vientiane. The 28-year-old from the province of Houaphanh bested 17 other contestants to win the national title. She will now prepare to represent Laos at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico later this year. Phoudthasone Phimmakaisone of Xaisomboun and Soukthida Paseuth of Khammouane were the first and second runners-up, respectively. The semifinal round of Miss Polski 2024 (Miss Poland 2024) took place on Friday, April 26 at Hotel Kolumna Park in Przygoń. From 59 semifinalists, only 32 beauties (two from each region) have been selected to move on to the final competition to be held this July. The next Miss Polski, to be crowned by last year's titleholder Angelika Jurkowianiec , is expected to represent Poland at Miss Universe 2024 and/or Miss Supranational 2025. Miss Germantown, Savena Mushinge, was crowned Miss Maryland USA 2023 on Sunday, April 2 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Rockville. Rounding out the Top 5 finalists were Kennedy Taylor, Lydia Frentsos, Danielle Shook, and Taylor Wright. They were named the first, second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Maryland USA is a 26-year-old Zambian-American model and a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree in anthropology. She is currently working as a transaction manager at the JLL DC office in Washington, D.C. The much-awaited Miss Peru 2024 (Miss Universe Peru) grand final, the 10th edition, will be held tonight at the Plaza Grau in Callao. Thirty-five contestants from across the country will compete for the national title and the opportunity to represent Peru at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico. The final show will be hosted by former Mis Peru Laura Spoya with Miami-based Puerto Rican TV presenter Carlos Adyan.
